swing
Category: Dance sub-genre
Definition: Jazz dance that emerged in the late 1920s and accompanies the music of the same name. Energetic bouncing dance for one or two dancers. Lindy hop and jitterbug are part of it.
Example: « Portland fancy » (Summer Stock) : transition from folk dance to swing.
