boogie woogie
Category: Musical styles
Definition: Referencing historical popular music style dating from about 1925 to 1950; characteristic eight-to-the-bar, walking bass rhythmic pattern in duple meter (or four beats to the bar); often uses twelve-bar blues instead of song form; piano prominent in typically small-group arrangements
Example: "Boogie Barcarolle" (You'll Never Get Rich)
