Definition: A section of talking or a general pause in narrowly musical action (singing or dancing). E.g. In a night-club scene, spectators are heard while they are talking, then turning the music of the show into mere background music.

Example: “Two Dreams Met” and “Nenita”’ (Down Argentine Way): dialogue in the middle of the number - “NY NY” (On The Town) - Ka-Lu-A (Till The Clouds...)
