Category: Diegetic status of the number
Definition: The number takes place on a dance floor, rather than on any kind of actual stage (ballroom, nightclub… if the scene does not just focus on the performance). Collective practice of dance in a public gathering. Can imply professional dancers or not. The number can take place on the dancefloor and go over its edges, to the point it invades the whole space.
Example: - “Nenita” (Down Argentine Way) - “The Jitters” (The Gang’s All Here) - “Tomorrow Belongs To Me” (Cabaret)
