risqué song

Category: Topics

Definition: The number is all about the performance of a risqué song (whether with suggestive double-entendres, or explicite, crude, dirty jokes). Do not use for one or two lines, but only if this is the major and often only content of the number.

Example: “If You Knew Susie” (Anchors Aweigh). Some of Cole Porter’s songs fall into this category even if the hints are less obvious in the film than on stage (“Brush Up Your Shakespeare”).
